ANDOR SEASON-1, EPISODE-1 HIGHLIGHTS

Andor episode 1

On September 21, 2022, the initial three episodes of Andor were released on the Disney+ streaming platform. Andor serves as a prequel to the Star Wars film ‘Rogue One’. The first three episodes of the series were directed by Toby Haynes. Diego Luna portrays the lead character, Cassian Andor, who he also played in the aforementioned Star Wars film. In the first episode, Andor embarks on a quest to locate his younger sister, Kerri, whom he became separated from during their childhood. However, he becomes embroiled in a confrontation with two sentry guards, ultimately resulting in their deaths. The inaugural episode of Andor depicts the protagonist’s upbringing alongside his sister Kerri in Kenari, a small Mid Rim system.

Prior to delving into the plot, it is imperative to examine the salient features of the inaugural episode of Andor. The first installment of the first season of Andor is entitled ‘Kassa’, which is the childhood moniker of the protagonist, Cassian Andor. Cassian Andor embarks on a quest to locate his younger sister and arrives at the leisure zone on Morlana one. He enters a brothel and inquires about a woman from Kenari who may have worked there. Two guards stationed at the bar counter within the brothel become envious of Andor and attempt to behave inappropriately. Andor discovers that a woman from Kenari had indeed worked at the establishment but had departed several months prior. Upon exiting the brothel, Andor is trailed by the two sentry guards who confront him in the streets. One of the guards brandishes a blaster and warns Andor that he is in significant trouble. They demand that he produce identification and threaten to impose a fine. Andor possesses three hundred credits, which he offers to the guards in exchange for his release. While he manages to seize the blaster from one of the guards, a stray shot inadvertently kills one of them. Andor subsequently eliminates the other guard as well.

He departs from Morlana One in the vessel he has borrowed and returns to Ferrix, where he resides and works. The narrative of Cassian Andor’s childhood is recounted through flashbacks in the series. During his childhood, he dwells in Kenari with his younger sister Kerri. A starship crashes in proximity to their village, prompting them to gaze skyward and witness the imperial vessel’s descent. (Transitioning to the present) Andor is roused from slumber by his droid B2EMO (BEE), who informs him that his friend Brasso had visited the previous evening to check on him. He proceeds to meet Brasso at the scrapyard and implores him to provide a false alibi if questioned about his whereabouts. Andor fabricates a tale that the two were together imbibing at Brasso’s abode. Deputy Inspector Syril Karn (portrayed by Kyle Soller) toiled throughout the night to compile a report on the two murders that occurred on Morlana One. The perpetrator was a dark-featured human male in search of a Kenari woman. Karn arrives at the security headquarters and apprises his superior of the two homicides. Chief Hyne instructs him to suppress the matter, citing inopportune timing as he was scheduled to present a report on Morlana One’s crime rates to his imperial superiors.

The deputy inspector has made the decision to proceed with his investigation into the two murders, despite receiving orders from his superior to make it appear as an accident. Andor arranges a meeting with his friend Bix Caleen, who is employed at Timm Karlo’s salvage yard, in order to request her assistance in contacting her confidential client to sell an untraceable N-S9 Starpath unit. Bix reluctantly agrees, however, her partner Timm Karlo is displeased with Andor’s presence around Bix. The deputy inspector conducts his investigation by examining the traffic logs, where he discovers a stray ship. He then requests the operator to provide further information about the vessel. Andor is confronted by Nurchi, a junk dealer, in the streets, whom he owes money. Bix visits a salyard where she uses a hidden communication rig to contact her client. Timm attempts to follow her, but loses her trail in the streets. Andor swaps the ID chip logs of the ship he used the previous night. He had borrowed the vessel from Pegla, who is angered by Andor’s actions and decides to prohibit him from using the ship again. Pegla requests that Andor leave and not expect any further favors from him. In flashbacks, Kassa departs with his fellow villagers to investigate the crash site.

Andor Season 1 Episode 1- Kassa- Plot Summary

Cassian Andor Cassian Andor

CASSIAN ANDOR SEARCHES FOR HIS SISTER

Cassian Andor is on Morlana one, located in the Pre-Ox Morlana corporate Zone, and is traversing a causeway. The planet is under the governance of a corporate authority. The events of the series transpire in BBY 5. He is attired in a lengthy hooded coat and is proceeding at a brisk pace. The weather is inclement, and Andor is navigating through the streets where humanoids are ensconced within hollow and transparent spheres. He proceeds to a brothel where he is impeded at the entrance by a sentry. The sentry conducts a scan for weapons and informs him that neither weapons nor communication devices are permitted within the establishment. Furthermore, he is prohibited from engaging in any frivolous activities or utilizing credit within the brothel. After verifying his credentials, the sentry grants him access and apprises him that the upstairs lounge is closed for the evening. Electronic music is audible within the bar, and a holographic image of an alien dancer is projected from a holoprojector. Andor approaches the bar, and the humanoid bartendress serves him a libation.

He places a few credits on the counter, but the bartendress advises him that payment can be rendered at the conclusion of his visit. Cassian Andor retrieves the credits from the counter and returns them to his pocket. Two guards are also present at the bar, imbibing their own beverages and seated at a distance from him. As Andor observes the bartendress, one of the guards, Kravas, cautions him against engaging in any untoward behavior. The inebriated guard indicates the bartendress and warns Andor that she is capable of inflicting harm upon him.

Andor was in the midst of consuming a beverage when a woman emerged from the confines of the brothel and inquired if he was alone that evening. He confirmed that he was indeed alone. The woman proceeded to inquire if he had visited the establishment before, to which he responded in the negative. Kravas, who was seated at the counter, observed the exchange with a mixture of envy and interest. The woman informed Andor that he had chosen an opportune moment to visit, as it had been a relatively quiet evening. Kravas, however, interjected himself into the conversation, expressing his desire to be serviced first, as he and his companion Verlo had been waiting longer than Andor, who had just arrived. The woman assured them that Gani would be available to attend to their needs shortly. Kravas, however, expressed his dissatisfaction with this prospect, much to the woman’s chagrin. She implored Kravas to conduct himself appropriately while within the brothel. Kravas took offense to the woman’s admonishment and conveyed his displeasure to Verlo. The woman apologized to Andor for the disruption, who suggested that she attend to the other guests first, as the corporate employees were becoming increasingly impatient. Andor concurred, noting that the town was governed by a corporate authority, and that the two guards were merely attempting to assert their authority. The woman dismissed their behavior as an attempt to play the role of law enforcement, which she found irksome. Gani, the woman’s colleague, arrived and began conversing with the guards at the counter.

The woman tries to bring the conversation with Andor back on track, stating that it was a tranquil evening. She approaches Andor, placing her hand on his back, and inquires if he was seeking something particular that night. Andor was aware that a girl from Kenari was employed at the brothel, a small Mid Rim system that the woman had heard of. She queries Andor if he was searching for his girlfriend there, to which he responds that he had no girlfriend. The woman chuckles and asks if Andor was from Kenari and feeling nostalgic. She departs, informing him that she would investigate if someone from Kenari was employed there. Kravas, the guard, was imbibing at the counter and glaring at Andor with resentment for the preferential treatment he was receiving. Andor notices the irate expression on Kravas' face and turns to him. Kravas inquires if Andor was observing something amusing. Andor denies understanding what he meant, but Kravas, unable to tolerate him, attempts to provoke a confrontation by asking why he was staring at them. Andor denies having stared, endeavoring to conceal his genuine emotions. Verlo, the second guard, was also observing Andor. Kravas cautions Andor that someone of his lowly status should not give them a hard look. Andor’s expression changes as Verlo also makes some hostile remarks.

The woman returned to Andor and informed him that a young lady from Kenari had previously been employed at the location but had departed several months prior. She suggested a young lady from Tahina who possessed the desired physical feature of large, dark eyes. Andor expressed great interest in the young lady from Kenari and inquired as to her whereabouts. Observing his eagerness, the woman inquired whether he was the young lady’s husband or boyfriend. Andor clarified that he was searching for his sister. The woman gazed into his eyes and disclosed that the young lady in question had vanished. It was common for individuals to come and go from the location. Following this revelation, the woman requested that Andor depart from the premises. As she was preparing to leave, Andor inquired as to the name of the young lady from Kenari. The woman promptly responded that no one provided their true identity at the location and departed.

ANDOR KILLS TWO SENTRY GUARDS

Andor emerges from the brothel, whereupon he observes that it is still raining in Morlana One. He proceeds to traverse the same path he had previously taken, when one of the inebriated guards whom he had encountered at the bar within the brothel calls out to him from behind. Kravas and Verlo, having trailed Andor from the brothel, demand that he halt. Kravas detains him, referring to him as a scrawno. Andor pauses, listening to their vociferations. One of the guards informs Andor that he may be unaware that he is currently in the Pre-Mor corporate zone, and that all employees are required to present their identification upon request.

Both Kravas and Verlo are intoxicated. One of them inquires whether Andor had inadvertently parked his vehicle beyond the causeway, which is prohibited for visitors. Otherwise, they would be compelled to impose a fine upon him in the event that he was unaware of the visitors’ curfew. They caution him that they will impound his vehicle and inquire whether he had swum over to the leisure zone. Subsequently, the two guards approach Andor and demand that he present his corporate identification. Kravas brandishes a blaster and aims it at Andor’s cranium, instructing him to produce his identification. Andor raises both of his hands and informs them that he has 300 credits in his coat pocket. Kravas informs him that the fine, including the towing charges and his personal processing fee, amounts to nearly the same sum. The other guard remarks that everyone has been fortunate this evening. Andor responds that he is not attempting to flee, and that they may seize all of his credits and permit him to depart. He does not desire any surprises this evening. Kravas approaches him and presses his blaster against Andor’s head from behind. Verlo removes the hood of Andor’s coat and begins to search his pockets. Andor attempts to turn around, but Kravas strikes him on the head with his blaster. Verlo searches him, but does not discover any credits. Andor instructs him to examine the other pocket.

As Verlo attempted to retrieve the credits from his pocket, Andor delivered a forceful blow with his head, causing Verlo to fall to the ground. Kravas then attempted to use his firearm, but Andor restrained him and delivered a punch to his neck. Andor proceeded to subdue the guard and disarm him of his blaster. After retrieving the weapon, Andor instructed Kravas to assist Verlo, who was lying motionless on the ground. Upon examination, Kravas discovered that Verlo had no pulse and was not breathing. It was determined that Verlo had been struck by a stray shot during the altercation. Despite Andor’s assertion that Verlo was feigning his condition, Kravas maintained that his friend was not pretending and accused Andor of causing his death. Kravas, fearing for his own safety, attempted to negotiate with Andor, suggesting that they could fabricate a story to make it appear as though Verlo’s death was an accident. He proposed that they inform the authorities that they had all been intoxicated and that Verlo had fallen and hit his head. Andor, however, responded with anger and pointed his blaster at Kravas, ultimately shooting him down. Following the incident, Andor became increasingly anxious and fled the planet in his ship, entering hyperspace.

ANDOR’S HOME IN FERRIX

The setting transitions to Ferrix, a free trade sector located in the Morlana system.

A diminutive B2EMO (BEE) droid traverses the thoroughfares when it encounters three Corellian hounds approaching from the opposite direction. The droid halts and endeavors to conceal itself within its outer casing. Two of the hounds pass by without incident, but the third hound lingers near the droid. It raises its hind leg and proceeds to urinate on the droid, prompting the droid to administer an electric shock to the hound. The hound retreats, and the droid continues on its journey. It navigates through a scrapyard and arrives at an abandoned vessel where Andor is sleeping. The droid informs Andor that it has procured the requested item as per Cassian’s instructions. The droid’s speech is halting and disjointed. It endeavors to rouse Andor from his slumber, addressing him as Kassa.

CASSIAN IS FROM KENARI

Kassa Kassa

Cassian is currently experiencing flashbacks from his childhood. His sister enters the room to wake him and affectionately addresses him as Kassa. Upon waking up, Cassian turns his head to observe his younger sibling. She points towards the sky and utters a phrase in the Kenari language. Cassian promptly rises from his bed and exits the room. He discovers a group of enthusiastic boys and girls eagerly gazing at the sky. Cassian and his sister join them in observing the spectacle.

Suddenly, a loud explosion is heard, and a Starship with its tail ablaze and emitting a trail of black smoke is seen plummeting from the sky at a distance. An adolescent girl below excitedly waves at the ship, but is reprimanded by a teenager in Kenari. The Kenari villagers are primarily composed of teenagers and adolescents. As they continue to observe, the ship crashes at a distance with a deafening explosion. Cassian’s sister poses a question to him in Kenari, prompting him to draw her closer. Subsequently, Cassian’s flashbacks come to an end.

ANDOR MEETS BRASSO

Cassian Andor has woken up and is talking to the droid B2EMO aboard the vessel where he had been sleeping. While examining his bruised hand, the droid, whom he affectionately refers to as BEE, inquires as to his whereabouts the previous evening. Andor dismisses the inquiry, deeming it insignificant. BEE presses further, questioning why Andor is hesitant to divulge the information if it is of no consequence. Andor proceeds to open a package of biscuits provided by the droid and begins to tear the wrapper with his teeth. He then inquires of B2EMO if anyone had visited the residence the previous evening. The droid responds, indicating that Jezzi and Femmi had delivered supper and Maarva’s medicine (Maarva, portrayed by Fiona Shaw, is not Andor’s biological mother, but rather the individual who had taken him in as an adolescent after he was brought from Kenari). The droid stammers, prompting Andor to inquire if anyone had been searching for him. B2EMO reveals that Brasso (Andor’s friend, a diligent grappler who works at the Ferrix salvage yard, portrayed by British actor Joplin Sibtain) had been inquiring about his whereabouts. BEE then relays Maarva’s concerns that Andor’s health and reputation were being compromised by his association with unsavory individuals, and that he was on a path that would inevitably lead to trouble from which he would be unable to extricate himself. Andor interrupts the droid’s prattle, requesting that it approach him. He acknowledges that he is aware of the energy consumption required for the droid to lie, but inquires if BEE would be capable of doing so on his behalf. B2EMO responds affirmatively, indicating that it possesses sufficient power reserves to fabricate lies.

Andor implores Bee to maintain confidentiality regarding their meeting and his whereabouts. Bee refutes Andor’s claims saying he was asking him to fabricate a double lie, prompting Andor to request that Bee fabricate both lies for him. Andor tells Bee to return home and recharge, to which Bee agrees. Andor hastily departs, declining Bee’s invitation to accompany him due to time constraints. The droid observes Andor’s swift exit. Andor proceeds to the location where his acquaintance Brasso is employed. A multitude of work gloves are displayed on a wall outside the establishment. Subsequently, a group of laborers, including Brasso, emerges from the premises. Andor stands near the entrance, awaiting Brasso’s arrival. Upon spotting Andor, Brasso approaches him and expresses concern for his well-being. Andor assures him that he is fine. Brasso discloses that he had visited Andor’s residence the previous evening. Andor inquires about Brasso’s activities subsequent to his departure, to which Brasso responds that he had returned home, tidied up, and retired for the night due to fatigue.

Andor relayed a divergent account to Brasso, stating that when he was unable to locate Andor at his residence the previous evening, he departed and rendezvoused with him at the Hotel Bridge. Despite their desire to visit Cavo’s due to their thirst, Andor informed Brasso that he was indebted to individuals there and could not accompany him. Brasso inquired as to the veracity of Andor’s statement, expressing curiosity as to why he would fabricate a lie regarding the events of the previous night. Andor persisted with his concocted version, prompting Brasso to inquire as to who would be questioning him. Subsequently, Andor concluded his story and implored his friend to corroborate his account. Amused by Andor’s narrative, Brasso supplemented it with additional details. He asserted that Andor had disparaged his choice of libation, causing offense. Unaware of Brasso’s irritation, Andor became more vocal in his argument, ultimately falling and injuring himself while Brasso attempted to assist him to his seat (which would account for the bruising on Andor’s face and hand). The following morning, Brasso discovered after waking up that Andor had left. Andor had now come to apologize for his behavior the previous night. Brasso was willing to accept his apology, and Andor chuckled upon hearing the fabricated story, knowing that Brasso would be willing to support him.

A group of workers were gathered on a nearby speeder, and one of them summoned Brasso. Prior to departing, Brasso instructed Andor to promptly resume his duties once the matter at hand had been resolved, despite his disheveled appearance. Andor expressed gratitude towards Brasso and acknowledged his reliability. In jest, Brasso clarified that he would not be providing any financial assistance. Andor acknowledged this with a response. Brasso boarded the speeder and advised Andor to request that his mother maintain the heating in their home, as she could afford it. Brasso had experienced frigid temperatures in his own home the previous evening.

THE DEPUTY INSPECTOR HAS GOT EXCELLENT LEADS

Syril Karn and Chief Hyne Deputy Inspector Karn with Chief Hyne

The setting shifts to the Corporate Security Headquarters of Morlana One, where three mobile Tac-Pods are observed hovering above the premises. Syril Karn, the Deputy Inspector, has compiled a comprehensive report concerning the recent homicides on Morlana One and is currently standing before Chief Hyne at the Corporate Security Headquarters. Hyne inquires about the timing of the incident, to which Karn responds that it occurred the previous night. Anticipating the Chief’s departure that morning, the Deputy Inspector had remained awake throughout the night to finalize the report. Chief Inspector Hyne questions Karn about his sleeplessness, and Karn asserts that he had stayed up all night due to the gravity of the situation. He further adds that if the loss of two employees did not warrant his vigilance, he would not be deserving of his uniform. Chief Hyne scrutinizes Karn’s uniform and inquires about any modifications made to it. Karn confirms that he had made some alterations to his uniform, including the addition of pockets, piping, and light tailoring.

Chief Hyne appeared uninterested and disengaged as he conversed with Deputy Inspector Karn. He informed Karn that he was aware of one of the guards, Kravas, who had been shot in the face the previous night by Andor. Karn updated him on the progress of the investigation, explaining that he had worked on the report overnight. The Chief proceeded to share his knowledge of Kravas, revealing that he had once been a squad commander on Four. Karn interjected, stating that Kravas must have been demoted since then, as he was currently working as a Sentry Corporal on One. The Chief continued to divulge information about Kravas, describing him as a reckless individual whose rank had fallen due to his recklessness. He expressed his personal dislike for Kravas and mentioned that he was fortunate to still be alive. The Chief then inquired about the suspect and whether Karn had made any progress in identifying them. Karn responded positively, stating that he had obtained some promising leads. The Chief proceeded to review the report, which indicated that the suspect was a dark-skinned human who was searching for a Kenari girl employed at the establishment.

Chief Hyne inquires of Karn whether there were any witnesses to the two murders, given the typically bustling nature of the location where they occurred. Karn responds that there were no witnesses, as the incident took place just outside the district at the entrance to the causeway plaza. Karn endeavors to provide further details regarding the location, but his superior interrupts him and inquires as to whether the victims were robbed. Karn confirms that they were not, prompting the chief to remark upon the difficulty of the case. Karn expresses his eagerness to identify the culprit and suggests that, with adequate resources, he could solve the case within a matter of days. However, the chief once again interjects, instructing Karn to cease both the conversation and the investigation. He characterizes the case as an unfortunate mishap, attributing it to poor timing and the two Pre-Mor employees being caught in the midst of a rare calamity. Karn expresses confusion, prompting the chief to clarify that he wishes for Karn to fabricate a suitable accident and make it appear as though it occurred on the far side of the plaza. The chief seeks to relocate the case outside of the leisure zone, where it will not receive significant attention.

The Deputy Inspector attempted to raise an objection that the two individuals in question had been murdered. However, Chief Hyne promptly silenced him, stating that the two had perished in a physical altercation, or at the very least, it must appear as such. The deceased were not authorized to be present within an upscale brothel, consuming Revnog, a prohibited substance. Furthermore, their actions were conducted while on duty, which constitutes a terminable offense. The individuals had evidently harassed an individual with a darker complexion, thereby provoking the wrong person. The Chief asserted that there was no need for an investigation, as it was evident that the two had acted recklessly and brought about their own demise. Karn, the Deputy Inspector, stood silently, attentively listening to his superior.

Chief Hyne was keen to avoid excessive publicity surrounding the case. He proposed that the two individuals had perished while attempting to assist someone in distress, albeit without appearing too heroic to avoid any unnecessary fanfare. The Chief requested that Karn select a suitable narrative that was poignant yet unremarkable. The Deputy Inspector remained motionless, resembling a statue. The Chief observed his subordinate’s expression and inquired as to why he appeared distressed and whether he had comprehended the situation. Karn replied that he was attempting to assimilate the information.

The Chief provided clarification regarding his previous statement. He explained that when he referred to “bad timing,” he was not insinuating that the Deputy Inspector had spent the entire night compiling the report. Rather, he was scheduled to attend an Imperial Regional Command Review that morning, during which he would present a report on the crime rate within his jurisdiction. The Chief’s objective was to deliver a concise speech, and one day the deputy inspector would be in a similar position. Chief Hyne was not inclined to cause concern among his superiors regarding the crime rates in Pre-Ox Morlana at present. He was aware that his superiors preferred to allocate minimal attention to Pre-Ox Morlana, which was advantageous for all members of the Pre-Mor Security Inspection team, including Deputy Inspector Karn. Prior to departing from his office, Chief Hyne cautioned Karn against putting his feet on the desk in his absence and instructed him to have the accident report prepared for his return. Karn observed the Chief exit the office with a briefcase.

BIX CALEEN AND THE SECRET CUSTOMER

Bix Caleen

Andor proceeded to meet Bix Caleen at her place of business, where he observed her lover, Timm Karlo, attending to extraterrestrial patrons at the counter. Karlo informed Andor that Bix was in the yard. Upon arriving in the yard, Andor observed Bix engrossed in her work, donning a welding helmet and examining a machine component. Despite Andor’s presence, Bix remained focused on her task and declined to engage in conversation. Andor persisted, expressing his desire to discuss her secret client. Inquiring about the speed at which Bix could reach the client, Andor’s physical injuries caught Bix’s attention. Andor fabricated a story about falling, prompting Bix to inquire if he had encountered an irate spouse. Andor then revealed his intention to sell an item, to which Bix responded that such transactions were commonplace. Andor was eager to meet the client, but Bix was hesitant to contact them for a single item. She explained that she typically consolidated items before reaching out to her clients. Despite Bix’s reluctance, Andor continued to press her to contact the client. Bix then disclosed that a Tac Corvette was scheduled to arrive that week, carrying a rack of imperial targeting units that may have been overlooked during the stripping process.

Andor approached her and spoke with sincerity, expressing his impatience. She inquired as to the reason for his haste and whether he had committed any wrongdoing. Andor responded by stating that her confidential acquaintance would desire the item in question, and he was certain that the individual would come to claim it. She had previously informed Andor that her secret friend wished to meet him. Bix inquired as to the nature of the item Andor was referring to. He possessed an untraceable N-S9 Starpath Unit, complete with its vector crystals and Imperial seal. She questioned how long he had kept it and why he had concealed it. Andor explained that he had been saving it and now required urgent relocation. Bix suspected that it was obtained through one of her bids. Andor inquired whether she intended to contact her friend.

Bix asked Andor if he was aware of the value of the N-S9 Starpath Unit. Andor acknowledged that it was worth a substantial amount. The proceeds would be sufficient to enable him to depart and remain hidden until the situation had cooled down. Andor informed his friend that he needed to relocate promptly. Bix was displeased with Andor for withholding information from her. Andor accused her of embezzlement and advised her that there was no need for either of them to become emotional.

Bix informed Andor that he required an alternative plan, but she suspected that he believed she was attempting to obtain a share in the sale. Andor stated that he had no intention of selling the unit to her, as he had not held onto it to acquire a partner. At present, he required every credit that he could obtain. Karlo approached Bix with a pad and inquired loudly if they were bidding on the Wobani run the following day. Jeef was interested in knowing if Bix was participating in the upcoming Wobani run. Bix informed Karlo that she would inform Jeef when she was prepared, and he departed. Andor inquired of Bix if her professional relationship with Karlo had evolved into something more personal. Bix confirmed this but requested that he refrain from asking any questions about her personal life, as she had never inquired about his. Andor requested that she promise not to disclose any information about their business arrangement to Karlo.

Bix informed Andor that Karlo was willing to assist her in any way possible. However, this response did not address Andor’s request for Bix to keep the matter confidential from Karlo. Bix clarified that Karlo was unaware of the transactions between herself and Andor. Despite this, Andor persisted in requesting that Bix contact her client, whom she had previously mentioned wanted to meet with him. Andor’s need to meet with the client was now urgent. Bix assured him that she would reach out to her acquaintance, and advised Andor to attend to his appearance. Satisfied with the response, Andor departed.

On his way out, he encountered Timm Karlo, who inquired about Bix’s apparent distress. Timm expressed frustration with Bix’s behavior whenever Andor visited her establishment. Andor reassured Timm that Bix was a resilient individual, and that there was no cause for concern. Timm expressed his exasperation with this response, prompting Andor to suggest that he seek out a less complicated partner. Andor then bid Timm farewell and left the premises.

The narrative of Cassian’s childhood in Kenari is revisited through a series of flashbacks. The youthful denizens of Kenari have congregated in one location to retrieve any salvageable items from a crashed vessel. Kassa has also joined their ranks and is seated among the group. Several individuals have adorned their faces and wrists with black lines, and Kassa follows suit. The Deputy Inspector conducts an investigation into the previous night’s traffic with the operator and instructs them to concentrate on a particular vessel that was meandering undetected in the vicinity where the homicides occurred. The Deputy Inspector directs the operator to sift through the entirety of the previous night’s traffic to gather more information about the ship. The operator reluctantly agrees to comply after being warned by the Deputy Inspector that their position could be jeopardized if they fail to follow orders.

NURCHI WANTS HIS MONEY BACK FROM ANDOR

Andor was traversing the thoroughfares when he was accosted by a scrap dealer by the name of Nurchi, to whom he was indebted. Nurchi intercepted him and inquired as to why he was in such a hurry and if he was not pleased to see him. Andor attempted to explain that he was running late for an urgent task, but Nurchi was adamant that he would not be permitted to depart without settling his outstanding balance. Andor endeavored to extricate himself from the situation by promising to remit payment as soon as he was able. A male Urodel by the name of Vetch appeared and positioned himself behind Andor, seemingly to intimidate him into settling his debt with Nurchi. Andor queried whether Nurchi was attempting to coerce him into paying up. Nurchi clarified that he merely wished to remind Andor of the amount he owed.

Andor inquires of Vetch whether he was in the company of Nurchi and present to issue threats. Vetch refrains from responding, and Nurchi reiterates to Andor that the matter pertained to his finances. Andor queries Vetch as to how he came to be in Nurchi’s employ, but Nurchi interjects and advises Andor against involving Vetch in the discussion. Vetch informs Andor that Nurchi had requested his presence at the location upon his arrival. Andor expresses his admiration for the arrangement and, prior to departing, assures Nurchi that he will not divulge the incident to anyone. As Andor exits, a disheartened Nurchi turns to Vetch.

BIX GOES TO CONTACT A SECRET CLIENT

Bix departed from her shop to attend to some errands and informed her partner, Timm Karlo, that it would not take long. Timm observed her departure and suspected that she was concealing something, prompting him to trail her through the streets. However, he accidentally collided with a humanoid carrying a box, losing track of Bix’s whereabouts. Bix found herself lost in the labyrinthine streets, and Timm was unable to determine her direction. Bix proceeded to Repaak Salyard, where she encountered a father and son, Salman Paak and Wilmon Paak, seated at the counter. Upon Bix’s arrival, Wilmon informed his father, Salman, who stated that he had not seen her in some time. Bix explained that she had been occupied and inquired about a Bendine Mesh-Tech filter, which appeared to be a code. Salman directed her to the yellow racks in the back, cautioning that she may need to search for it. Bix proceeded to the backyard, where she went to a large chimney-like structure. Behind the bundles of cro-plex and no-tarn tubing, Salman maintained a covert communications rig. Bix entered the chimney-like structure and ascended the ladder to activate the comms.

KARN PUTS OUT A BULLETIN SEEKING ANDOR

The deputy Inspector is trying to find the Kenari human male suspect on Ferrix. He asks the analysts at the headquarters to look for him in the logs. One of them tells him that his search has yielded no results and tells Deputy Inspector about a six years old Imperial census in which he might find some information. A female officer sitting nearby tells him that there was not much information related to Kenari. The Deputy Inspector asks them to put a word about it on Ferrix. However, the analyst tells him that they did not have a presence on Ferrix. The Deputy Inspector asks if Ferrix did not fall under their jurisdiction and tells them he was trying to find only some information. The female officer tells him that the people of Ferrix had their own way of doing things. The Deputy inspector shouts at them in annoyance that two Pre-Mor employees had been murdered and no one was serious about it. He asks the officers to put out a bulletin that a Kenari human was wanted for questioning. He asks the officers to slam all their channels on Ferrix. Karn orders the officers to set a new desk in the office to monitor any new information they receive before leaving.

CAUGHT SWAPPING THE ID CHIP LOGS

Pegla, the security head at Zorby’s Western shiplot on Ferrix, was observed walking with his two hounds in a yard where several ships were stationed. Upon arriving at the ship that Andor had utilized the previous night, Pegla encountered Andor inside the vessel. Pegla informed Andor that he must not be present while his superior was in the office. Andor responded by stating that he had forgotten something and had refueled the ship as Pegla had requested, and was nearly finished. Pegla noticed an ID chip log in Andor’s possession and inquired as to its purpose. Andor had replaced the old chip with a blank one. Pegla’s boss contacted him via the PA system, informing him that a customer was waiting outside. Pegla informed his boss that the yard rats had returned, and his boss requested that he hurry and allow the hounds to handle the situation. Pegla questioned Andor as to why he was exchanging the chip logs, as it could result in both of them getting into trouble. Andor stated that he was dissatisfied with how the ship had performed the previous night. Pegla disapproved of Andor’s actions and declined his request to lend the ship again the following night. Pegla instructed Andor to leave and not return, stating that there would be no further deals or favors. Pegla informed Andor that he was not interested in learning about his activities or where he had taken the ship the previous night. Pegla instructed Andor to finish and depart the premises.

Once more, flashbacks take us back to Kenari, where a cohort of adolescents is preparing to journey to the crash site, equipped with blow pipes. Kassa, too, accompanies them, but not before requesting that his younger sister, Kerri, remain in the village. Kerri remains stationary, observing as Kassa departs with the others. This concludes Episode 1 of Season 1 of Andor, entitled ‘Kassa’.
