What Happens in the Mandalorian Chapter 1

The Plot of The Mandalorian Chapter 1 Explained

The inaugural chapter of the television series Mandalorian, Season 1 Episode 1, bears the title ‘The Mandalorian’ and was released on the 12th of November, 2019. The protagonist of the show, the Mandalorian, whose name is Din Djarin, is portrayed by Pedro Pascal. Prior to delving into the plot of this chapter, it is pertinent to briefly highlight the key occurrences of the episode. Werner Herzog assumes the role of the enigmatic client, while Carl Weathers plays Greef Karga, the agent of the bounty hunters. Nick Nolte lends his voice to Kuiil, who rescues Din Djarin from blurrgs on the planet Arvala-7 and leads him to the encampment where he encounters Grogu.

In the initial chapter of “The Mandalorian,” the protagonist, a bounty hunter, embarks on a mission to capture a bounty on the icy planet of Pagodon. He encounters the target at a local bar, where the individual is being harassed by two assailants. The Mandalorian intervenes and engages in a physical altercation with the aggressors, ultimately killing one of them before successfully apprehending the bounty. The individual in question is a mythrol who attempts to bribe the Mandalorian for his release. However, the Mandalorian transports the mythrol to his Razor Crest and saves him from a Ravinak attack en route to Nevarro. During the journey, the Mandalorian carbon freezes the mythrol and checks out the three additional bounties aboard his vessel.

The Mandalorian departs from his previous location and proceeds to a residence where he encounters additional Mandalorians and foundlings. He meets with the armorer and presents her with the Beskar iron he received as a down payment. The armorer expresses her gratitude for his generous contribution and proceeds to forge a pauldron for the Mandalorian. She informs him that the surplus Beskar iron will be utilized to support several foundlings. The Mandalorian travels to a planet known as Arvala-7 in his Razor Crest to obtain the bounty. During his journey, he is confronted by two blurrgs and is subsequently rescued by an Ugnaught named Kuiil. The Ugnaught offers to guide him to the encampment where the asset is located, but requests that the Mandalorian eliminate the mercenaries who have taken up residence on the planet. Kuiil advises the Mandalorian that he must learn to ride a blurrg in order to reach the encampment. Upon arrival, the Mandalorian discovers that a bounty droid, IG-11, is also attempting to secure the asset. The Mandalorian and the droid join forces and successfully eliminate the Nikto mercenaries who are guarding the asset. They locate the child, Grogu, in a pram at the encampment. However, the droid has been instructed to terminate the asset and is determined to do so. The Mandalorian, on the other hand, is committed to preserving the child’s life and ultimately terminates the droid by shooting it in the head. He successfully secures the bounty and departs from the planet.

THE MANDALORIAN CHAPTER ONE PLOT SUMMARY

Fight at the Bar

The Mandalorian chapter one

Chapter 1 of The Mandalorian commences on an icy planet, Pagodon, where the protagonist, the Mandalorian, stands holding a tracking fob. The tracking fob emits a continuous beep, indicating the proximity of the bounty. He places the fob back in his belt and proceeds towards the settlement. Upon entering a cantina, he witnesses a group of trawlers harassing a mythrol. A Quarren trawler restrains the mythrol’s head on the table while the human trawler comments on the mythrol’s glands in Huttese, stating that he could sell them at the port. The bartender observes the trawlers bullying the mythrol, who pleads for mercy and offers his credits to the trawlers, but to no avail. The human trawler remarks that the mythrol’s musk will be sweet, and the Quarren makes the mythrol stand while still holding him by the neck. The human trawler brandishes a dagger and points it at the mythrol’s eyes. Before they can harm the creature, the Mandalorian, donning his armor and helmet, enters the cantina, and the door closes behind him. The human trawler confronts the Mandalorian in Huttese, but the Mandalorian ignores his threats and stands at the bar counter. The human trawler approaches the Mandalorian, and the bar tender translates his message, informing the Mandalorian that he had spilled his drink. The other trawler releases the mythrol’s neck and moves towards the Mandalorian, but the bartender intervenes, offering him a free drink to prevent any altercation. The human trawler inspects the Mandalorian’s armor and inquires if it is real Beskar steel in Huttese. The Quarren growls at the Mandalorian and scratches his chest armor with his dagger, enraging the Mandalorian. However, he maintains his composure. The bartender places a mug on the counter and slides it towards the human trawler. The Mandalorian grabs the mug and strikes the Quarren on his head, then slams his head on the wooden counter. The human trawler attacks the Mandalorian, who breaks his right hand. The Quarren attempts to flee, but the Mandalorian ensnares his feet using a grappling line. The Quarren pulls out a blaster and shoots at the Mandalorian, but the armor absorbs the shot. The Mandalorian retaliates by shooting the door’s controls on the left, causing the door to close and bisecting the Quarren. Half of his body remains inside the cantina, while the other half lies outside the door.

The mythrol, who had been subjected to harassment by the trawlers, expressed his relief and gratitude towards the Mandalorian for saving his life. He offered his heartfelt thanks and proceeded to collect the credits on the table, intending to buy the Mandalorian a drink. However, the Mandalorian declined the offer and instead placed a holographic puck on the table before the mythrol. The latter inquired if it was a bounty puck and if his picture was projected on it. He attempted to bribe the Mandalorian, suggesting that there might have been a mistake and offering more credits. The Mandalorian, pressed for time, informed the mythrol that he could either “bring him in warm or bring him in cold”. In the subsequent scene, the Mandalorian led the handcuffed mythrol across the icy terrain. They encountered a Kubaz ferryman, who stood up and addressed them in Kubazian. The Mandalorian requested passage to the yards, and the ferryman responded by playing a note on his flute. A yellow landspeeder, driven by an astromech droid, approached them. However, the Mandalorian declined the ride, and the ferryman attempted to persuade him by highlighting the speeder’s newness and advanced features. The Mandalorian tossed a coin at the ferryman, who played another note on his flute before the landspeeder departed. Another landspeeder, driven by a human, arrived at the scene. Although it was in a poorer condition than the previous one, the Mandalorian did not comment on it. As they rode in the landspeeder, the pilot used his binoculars to scan the surroundings.

Escaping the Ravinak’s fangs

The Mythrol inquires of the Mandalorian whether he is aware of the pilot’s intentions. Subsequently, he turns to the driver of the landspeeder and inquires if he is searching for Ravinaks. The pilot asserts that the area around the port is potentially hazardous, as it is where ships dispose of their waste. He further explains that the entire planet is considered a dumping ground. The landspeeder approaches the location where the Razor Crest is docked, and the Mythrol expresses disbelief that the Mandalorian was referring to the ship. The Mandalorian instructs his captive to exit the landspeeder, and the latter suggests hiring a Livery cruiser instead of utilizing the Razor Crest. He offers to pay for the service and make it a pleasant experience. The landspeeder pilot is in a hurry to depart and requests payment. The Mandalorian provides him with a coin, and the pilot departs, cautioning them to avoid the ice. The Mythrol remains outside, apprehensive, while the Mandalorian enters the ship.

The Mythrol stood in a state of observation as he watched the landspeeder depart from the Razor Crest. The vehicle had traveled a considerable distance when suddenly, the ice beneath it began to crack, and the Mythrol could hear the deafening roar of a creature. In a state of fear, the Mythrol exclaimed as he witnessed the Ravinak destroy the landspeeder. He ran towards the Mandalorian, pleading with him to open the hatch. As the creature approached the Razor Crest, the ice sheet on which the ship was standing began to break, sensing the presence of living beings. The Ravinak drew dangerously close, but at the last moment, the Mandalorian pulled the Mythrol away, and the creature instead bit the ship’s landing gear. The Mythrol expressed his relief, exclaiming “Dank Farrik, that was close,” as the Mandalorian escorted him to the cockpit and helped him to take a seat. The pilot had warned them to stay off the ice, but the Mythrol believed that to be an understatement of the millennium, still terrified from his narrow escape from the Ravinak’s large fangs.

The Mandalorian endeavored to depart from the vessel, but the Ravinak persisted in grasping onto it and endeavoring to bring it down. An alarm sounded, and the Mythrol, who was in a state of terror, continued to cry out that they were going to be pulled under the ice. The Mandalorian exited the cockpit and retrieved his Amban Sniper rifle. The creature was still clinging to the ship’s undercarriage. The Mandalorian opened the ship’s door and, from the ramp, electrocuted the Ravinak, causing it to immediately release the ship. The Mandalorian returned to the cockpit, and the Razor Crest took flight. The Mythrol, who was still in a state of terror, continued to mutter, “Let’s go! Let’s go!” urging the Mandalorian to depart from the area as soon as possible. Once the ship had reached outer space, the Mythrol was relieved and expressed his admiration for the Razor Crest, referring to it as a classic. He inquired whether the Razor Crest was pre-Empire. However, the Mandalorian did not respond, and the Mythrol attempted to bribe him once again, stating that he had a significant amount of credits. This was the reason he had offered to hail a cruiser. The Mandalorian remained silent, and the Mythrol asked him how much he was being paid. Receiving no response, he inquired whether it was true that Mandalorians never removed their helmets. Once again, receiving no response, he asked the Mandalorian if he could use the ship’s vacc tube. He could do it right there in the cockpit, but he wanted to inform the Mandalorian that if he had never seen a Fledgling Mythrol evacuate his thorax, he was a fortunate individual. He proceeded to search for the vacc tube and exited the cockpit through the suddenly opened door. The Mythrol then descended the stairs to the lower part of the ship, as the Mandalorian did not object.

Carbon frozen bounty

The vacc tube was located at the point of disembarkation from the stairs, and the mythrol vocalized loudly enough for the Mandalorian to hear from the cockpit that he had located it. Despite the fact that he was molting and it would take him some time, the individual chose to explore that section of the vessel rather than utilizing the vacc tube. Upon clicking a few buttons adjacent to the stairs, a cabinet containing solely weapons was revealed. The mythrol promptly closed the cabinet and spoke more audibly to ensure that the Mandalorian could hear him, stating that he felt much better since he had not evacuated since the solstice in an attempt to deceive Din Djarin. The mythrol continued to express his desire to be free for Life Day, but abruptly ceased speaking upon encountering several carbon frozen individuals along a wall, including a Rodian and two humans. He went on to express his belief that he would not be able to remain free on Life Day or be with his family this year. The Mandalorian responded from his left, stating that it was unlikely. In the next moment, the Mandalorian pushed the mythrol into an empty chamber and carbon froze him, as he had done with the other bounties on board the ship.

A new deep pocketed job

The Mandalorian piloted the Razor Crest to Nevarro and landed it at the designated spaceport. He proceeded to traverse the streets and eventually arrived at a cantina where he encountered a diverse array of humanoids and aliens. It was there that he met with Greef Karga, the agent for the bounty hunters’ guild, who was seated at a table. Karga acknowledged the Mandalorian’s swift completion of the job and inquired if he had successfully apprehended all of the targets. The Mandalorian responded by placing the tracking fobs on the table before Karga. After examining the fobs, Karga confirmed that he would initiate the offload process and instructed one of his associates to commence the task in Huttese. The Mandalorian proceeded to remove his rifle from his back and sat down with it in his lap. Karga then presented him with imperial credits as payment, but the Mandalorian refused, citing that the currency was no longer valid since the fall of the empire. Karga attempted to persuade him otherwise, but the Mandalorian remained steadfast in his stance. Karga then offered to pay him in Calamari Flan, but only half of the agreed-upon amount. The Mandalorian reluctantly accepted the offer. Meanwhile, Karga’s associates were in the process of scanning and offloading the carbon-frozen bounties from the ship. Inside the cantina, Karga presented the Mandalorian with additional bounties, including four bail jumpers and a wanted smuggler. The Mandalorian expressed interest in acquiring all of them, but Karga informed him that there were other members of the guild who were also seeking bounties and that these were the only ones available at the moment. When the Mandalorian inquired as to why the process was so slow, Karga explained that many individuals were unwilling to pay the guild rates and were unconcerned with the quality of the work.

The Mandalorian inquired of Karga what his highest bounty had been, to which Karga responded that it had not been much - a mere five thousand. The Mandalorian expressed his objection, noting that such a sum would not even cover the cost of fuel. Karga paused briefly before informing him of a job that was somewhat complicated but well-funded. There was no puck or chain code involved, and the Mandalorian would be meeting the client face-to-face to receive a direct commission. The Mandalorian inquired as to whether the bounty was linked to the underworld, but Karga was uncertain. All he knew was that there was no chain code. Karga then presented a card to the Mandalorian, asking if he wanted the chit or not. The Mandalorian promptly accepted it. Subsequently, the Mandalorian traversed the backstreets of Nevarro until he arrived at a house. As he stood at the door, a gatekeeper droid emerged from a hole to the right of the entrance and greeted him in an alien language. The Mandalorian presented the card (transponder) to the droid, which scanned it and opened the door for him. A power droid awaited him inside and led him down a corridor to a room where he encountered four stormtroopers armed with blasters. The client, an elderly man with half-bald, white hair, was seated in a chair next to a table.

Karga had apprised the client of Mandalorian’s impending arrival, the elderly gentleman informed him. Mandalorian strode past the stormtroopers and approached the table where an unoccupied seat awaited him. He inquired of the elderly man what other information Karga had divulged about him. The client responded that Karga had extolled Mandalorian as the most accomplished individual in the parsec. At that moment, a second door on the right side of the room opened. Mandalorian, sensing a potential threat, drew his rifle and blaster. He aimed his blaster at the newcomer and his rifle at the stormtroopers to his left. The stormtroopers, in turn, had also drawn their weapons and were aiming at Mandalorian. The newcomer was visibly alarmed by Mandalorian’s weapon and implored him for forgiveness, insisting that he had not intended to cause any disturbance. The client introduced the newcomer as Dr. Pershing and apologized for his lack of decorum, explaining that his enthusiasm had gotten the better of him. The client then requested that Mandalorian lower his weapon. Mandalorian, in turn, suggested that the stormtroopers lower theirs first. The stormtroopers, however, refused to comply, stating that they outnumbered Mandalorian four to one. Mandalorian, unfazed by the odds, remained resolute. The client was impressed by Mandalorian’s demeanor and, approaching him, remarked that Karga had described him as being quite expensive. He then invited Mandalorian to take a seat in the vacant chair and instructed the stormtroopers to stand down. Mandalorian obliged.

Beskar Iron for down payment

On the table lay an object wrapped in cloth. The client proceeded to unwrap the cloth, revealing a piece of Beskar iron, which he presented as a down payment. He informed the Mandalorian that a full camtono awaited him upon successful delivery of the asset. Dr. Pershing, who stood to the right of the Mandalorian, bowed his head slightly and emphasized the importance of delivering the asset alive. The elderly client confirmed this requirement. The client then acknowledged the complexity of bounty hunting and suggested that proof of termination could be acceptable for a lower fee. Dr. Pershing interjected, stating that this was not the agreed-upon arrangement. The client clarified that he was being pragmatic. The Mandalorian inquired about the puck, but the client stated that none was available. He suggested a less traditional agreement and offered a tracking fob. Dr. Pershing placed the fob on the table, and the Mandalorian accepted it, securing it in his belt. The Mandalorian requested the chain code, but the client could only provide the last four digits. This information was insufficient, and the Mandalorian inquired about the bounty’s age. The client revealed that the asset was fifty years old and offered the last reported positional data. He suggested that with the fob and data, a skilled bounty hunter like the Mandalorian could make things work. As the Mandalorian rose to leave, the elderly client spoke of the natural order of things and the rightful place of Beskar in the hands of a Mandalorian. He alluded to Mandalore’s past and the injustices inflicted by the Empire, asking the Mandalorian if he agreed. The bounty hunter paused at the door but did not respond before departing.

Among other Mandalorians

The Mandalorian departed from the aforementioned location and proceeded through the bustling marketplace, where the vendors were vociferously hawking their wares in Huttese. Within the marketplace, a Kowakian monkey lizard was being roasted, while another was confined to a small cage, observing its fate with a sense of despair. Continuing through the marketplace, the Mandalorian entered a dwelling and descended a flight of stairs, leading to a hall teeming with Mandalorians. Among them were foundlings, scurrying about with miniature helmets adorning their heads. This hall led to a smaller chamber, housing the cryo furnace, with a mythosaur skull adorning its entrance. The armorer was diligently working on a piece of Beskar atop the furnace, with a small table and two stools situated nearby. The Mandalorian took a seat at the table, placing the Calamari Flan he had received from Karga upon it, along with the Beskar iron provided by his client as a down payment. The armorer noted that the Beskar had been acquired during the great purge and expressed gratitude for its return to the Mandalorian tribe. She proceeded to inform him that she would fashion a pauldron for him, a form of shoulder armor that often denoted the wearer’s rank. The armorer also inquired as to whether the Mandalorian’s signet had been revealed, to which he replied in the negative.

The armorer informs him that she will imminently forge the pauldron and stands up from her stool to proceed. She proceeds to open a cabinet and retrieves her gravity hammer and tongs. She then places the beskar iron on the furnace, causing it to liquefy. The armorer expresses her gratitude to the Mandalorian for his generous donation of beskar, which will provide support for numerous foundlings. The Mandalorian responds by acknowledging the importance of such contributions, as he himself was once a foundling. The armorer confirms her awareness of his background. In a series of flashbacks, the Mandalorian recollects his family being attacked during his childhood, with his parents shielding him from the gunfire and explosions before hiding him in an underground bunker. Upon completing the forging process, the armorer presents the pauldron to the Mandalorian and affixes it to his right shoulder.

Attacked by Blurrgs and Saved by Kuiil

The Mandalorian Chapter 1

In the ensuing scene, the Mandalorian is piloting the Razor Crest through hyperspace, and shortly thereafter, the vessel approaches the planet of Arvala-7. The Mandalorian deftly navigates the Razor Crest over the rugged terrain before landing in a valley. Upon disembarking from the ship, he consults his tracking fob, which emits a beeping signal. The Mandalorian secures the fob in his belt and retrieves his firearm, scanning the area through its scope. He soon spots two blurrgs, but before he can react, one of the creatures charges at him, causing him to recoil in terror as he stares down its massive visage. In a desperate attempt to defend himself, the Mandalorian employs his flamethrower, but the blurrg manages to seize his right hand in its jaws, violently throwing him to the ground. Despite the creature’s overwhelming strength, the Mandalorian valiantly fights back, striking the blurrg in the eye. The creature eventually releases its grip on the Mandalorian’s right hand, only to seize his left hand moments later, hurling him to the ground once again. As the Mandalorian struggles to free himself from the creature’s grasp, a dart suddenly strikes the blurrg, causing it to collapse. Meanwhile, a second blurrg charges at the Mandalorian, but before it can reach him, it too is struck by a dart and falls to the ground near his feet.

The Mandalorian withdrew his hand from the mouth of the blurrg and observed the dart that had struck the creature. Shortly thereafter, an individual named Kuiil, an Ugnaught who was armed and mounted on a saddled blurrg, approached him. The Mandalorian expressed his gratitude to his rescuer, who responded with a gentle nod. Kuiil inquired if the Mandalorian was a bounty hunter, to which he replied in the affirmative. Kuiil then informed him that he had intended to offer his assistance, and without waiting for a response, stated that he had already made up his mind. The Mandalorian followed Kuiil to his moisture farm, where he was informed that many others had sought the same asset as he. The Mandalorian inquired if Kuiil had aided them as well, to which he replied that he had, but they had all perished. The Mandalorian was hesitant to accept Kuiil’s assistance, but his host insisted that he required his help. Kuiil offered to guide him to the encampment where the asset could be found, and the Mandalorian requested his share of the bounty. Kuiil proposed that he receive half, which the Mandalorian deemed excessive. However, Kuiil clarified that he was not interested in the bounty, but rather in half of the blurrgs that the Mandalorian had helped him capture. The Mandalorian offered to give him both, but Kuiil declined, stating that he required a blurrg for his own transportation. The Mandalorian admitted that he did not know how to ride a blurrg, but Kuiil ended the conversation by stating that he had already made his decision.

Subsequently, the Mandalorian endeavored to mount a blurrg, but his attempts were futile. The creature persistently shook him off its back, refusing to allow him to ride it. Kuiil suggested that removing his helmet might alleviate the situation, as it could be intimidating the animal. However, the Mandalorian was unable to do so due to the strict adherence to the Mandalorian code. He speculated that the animal might have remembered his previous attempt to roast it with his flamethrower. Kuiil informed him that the animal was female, as the males were consumed during mating. Despite several unsuccessful attempts, the Mandalorian persisted in his efforts to ride the blurrg. Frustrated by his repeated failures, he approached the Ugnaught and inquired about the possibility of renting a landspeeder or a speeder bike, offering to pay for it. However, the Ugnaught reminded him of his Mandalorian heritage and the fact that his ancestors rode the great Mythosaur. He encouraged the Mandalorian to ride the young foal, as he was capable of doing so. The blurrg growled, seemingly challenging the Mandalorian, and took a few steps back as he approached it again. However, this time, the Mandalorian attempted to soothe the animal, urging it to remain calm. He approached it slowly, and although initially hesitant, he managed to calm it down and touch its forehead. The creature remained still, allowing the Mandalorian to successfully tame it and mount its back.

Partnering the Bounty Droid

IG-11

Mandalorian ascended a rocky outcropping and reclined atop it, affording him a vantage point from which to observe the encampment situated in the valley below. Utilizing a scope, he espied a group of Niktos positioned before the encampment. To his surprise, an IG series bounty droid, designated IG-11, made its approach to the scene. Upon arrival, IG-11 invoked subparagraph 16 of the Bondsman guild protocol waiver, demanding the immediate surrender of the asset from the Nikto guards. The guards refused to comply, and one of them even attempted to draw his blaster and attack the droid. In response, IG-11 swiftly dispatched the Nikto and his compatriots with its own weaponry.

One of the Nikto guards hastily enters the open gate of the encampment and secures it from within. The Mandalorian rises from his position on the rock and advances. The droid remains stationary near the fallen Nikto guards and reiterates its warning. Upon reaching the droid, the Mandalorian requests that it stand down, but the droid responds with hostile fire, causing the Mandalorian to fall to the ground. The Mandalorian then presents the IG droid with his tracking fob, indicating his membership in the guild. The droid expresses surprise, as it had believed itself to be the sole guild member on the assignment. The Mandalorian responds, “It makes two of us.” Despite the Mandalorian’s intention to ambush the Nikto mercenaries, the droid’s actions have likely alerted the enemy within. The IG-11 droid turns to the Mandalorian, who is taking cover behind a pillar, and demands that he surrender his fob, as the droid has already issued a writ of seizure and the bounty rightfully belongs to it. The Mandalorian objects, noting that the droid has yet to secure the bounty. The droid confirms this to be true.

The Mandalorian proposed that they divide the rewards, to which the droid acquiesced. He then instructed the droid to regroup, retreat to a safe location, and devise a plan. The droid inquired whether the Mandalorian would receive the reputation merits associated with the bounty. The Mandalorian expressed concern that the droid was engaging in excessive conversation, and requested that they discuss the matter at a later time. However, the droid insisted on receiving an answer before proceeding. Subsequently, a group of mercenaries began firing at the droid from the rooftops. The Mandalorian eliminated one of the attackers, while additional Niktos emerged from the gate. The droid, who was exposed, retaliated by firing at the armed mercenaries. One of the attackers emerged from a door and attempted to overpower the Mandalorian, but was swiftly eliminated. The Mandalorian then retrieved the tracking fob and observed that it was emitting a louder beeping sound. He informed the droid that the asset was located behind a large door, which the droid confirmed. Despite the droid’s impressive shooting skills, several more mercenaries arrived and took up positions, leading the droid to conclude that they were trapped. Consequently, the droid decided to initiate self-destruct sequencing, much to the Mandalorian’s surprise.

IG-11 expounds that the manufacturer protocol necessitates that in the event of potential capture, the droid must engage in self-destruction. The Mandalorian instructs the droid to refrain from self-destructing and instead provide cover. The controls of the substantial metallic door were impaired during the gunfire. The Mandalorian endeavors to connect some wires to open the door, but the Nikto mercenaries commence a fierce barrage, rendering his efforts futile. The Mandalorian and the droid seek refuge behind a pillar. The number of Nikto mercenaries firing at them increases, and the Mandalorian informs the droid that they are trapped. One of the Nikto mercenaries retrieves a laser cannon, and the droid once again suggests initiating self-destruct, but the Mandalorian intervenes. The Mandalorian proposes that they fight their way out, and the droid agrees. They emerge from behind the pillar together, but quickly take cover again upon realizing that a Nikto is operating the laser cannon and firing at them. The Mandalorian informs the droid that there has been a change of plans. IG-11 reiterates that it will initiate the self-destruct sequence, but the Mandalorian instructs the droid to draw the fire while he takes out the cannon. The droid emerges from cover, and the Nikto operating the cannon begins firing at it. After a few shots, the droid collapses in a corner. Meanwhile, the Mandalorian emerges from behind the pillar and shoots a grappling line at the cannon while the Nikto is distracted.

The subsequent moment saw the Mandalorian swiftly dispatch the Nikto with his firearm, subsequently commandeering the cannon and unleashing a barrage of fire upon the surrounding Nikto mercenaries, resulting in their swift demise. IG-11, having observed the Mandalorian’s actions, commended him on his success and informed him of his intention to deactivate the self-destruct sequence. The Mandalorian approached IG-11 and expressed his admiration for the droid’s performance, assisting him in standing upright. He then inquired about the droid’s well-being, noting the severity of the blaster wound. IG-11 conducted a brief diagnostic and confirmed that the shot had missed his central wiring harness, and that the only remaining obstacle was the door. The Mandalorian and IG-11 surveyed the cannon and utilized it to bring down the door, allowing them to enter the room and eliminate the final mercenary. As they proceeded down the hallway, IG-11 alerted the Mandalorian to the continued activation of the tracking fob, indicating the presence of a life form within the vicinity. The Mandalorian retrieved the tracking fob and conducted a thorough search, ultimately discovering a corner where the signal was strongest and the beeping intensified.

In the corner of the room, there is a pram which appears to contain the asset. The Mandalorian proceeds to activate the button, causing the pram to open. He is taken aback by the sight of the asset and inquires with IG-11 about its age, to which the droid responds that the species ages differently. The foundling within the pram removes the blanket covering its face, prompting IG-11 to explain that while this particular asset may have the potential to live for centuries, such information is ultimately unknowable. As IG-11 attempts to raise its blaster at the asset, the Mandalorian intervenes, insisting that they must bring it in alive. However, the droid counters that the commission specifically requires the termination of the asset. In response, IG-11 aims its blaster at the foundling, but before it can act, a shot is fired, causing the droid to collapse to the ground with its head damaged and its red lights extinguished. The Mandalorian stands in awe of the child, whose name is revealed to be Grogu, and extends his index finger towards it. In turn, the child raises its own finger in an attempt to touch the Mandalorian’s. This marks the conclusion of Chapter 1 of The Mandalorian.

Grogu and the Mandalorian
