Extraction 2

Extraction 2 is an action movie directed by Sam Hargrave and produced by Chris Hemsworth. The movie is the sequel to Extraction, a 2020 action movie with similar starcast.

Main cast and characters:

Chris Hemsworth, Golshifteh Farahani & Adam Bessa

Chris Hemsworth: Chris Hemsworth plays Tyler Rake who is a highly skilled commando and a mercenary for hire.

Golshifteh Farahani: Farahani plays Nik Khan who is an inseparable part of Tyler’s team and this time she herself gets into some serious action compared to the prequel of this movie.

Adam Bessa: Adam Bessa plays Yaz Khan who is also in Tyler’s team and is the brother of Nik Khan. He dies in a fight against the Nagazi army.

Tornike Gugrichiani: Gugrichiani plays Zurab, the ruthless gangster and brother of Davit. After his brother’s death, he alone runs the billion dollar heroin business and heads the nagazi family of criminals.

Olga Kurylenko : Kurylenko plays Mia, the ex-wife of Tyler Rake in the movie. She enters the scene in the second half of the movie and is not a part of the main action.

Idris Elba: Elba plays the secret client in black suit. He is in a guest role and his screen presence is limited to hardly a few minutes in the movie.

Extraction 2 Movie Plot Summary

Extraction 2 commences from the point where Extraction (part 1) concludes. Tyler Rake, while attempting to extract the son of an Indian crime lord in Bangladesh, sustains a gunshot wound to the neck and subsequently falls into a river from a bridge. His team successfully retrieves him from the water, and he is found to be alive and breathing. He is subsequently transported to a hospital in Dubai, where he undergoes a period of convalescence under the care of Nik Khan, a highly skilled commando. Following his recovery, Rake decides to retire from his profession. However, fate intervenes, and he is presented with a new, highly complex, and perilous mission. He is informed that his ex-wife, Mia, requires his assistance. Mia’s sister and her children are incarcerated in a Georgian prison alongside her husband, a notorious gangster named Davit. The US government has pressured the Georgian government to extend Davit’s sentence by ten years, and he has used his political connections to secure his family’s placement in the same prison. Davit’s brother, Zurab, oversees the Nagazi army, a criminal organization responsible for a billion-dollar heroin enterprise.

Tyler has retired to a wooden cabin nestled in the snowclad hills, seeking solace and respite from his tumultuous past. During his stay, a gentleman attired in a black suit (portrayed by Idris Elba) approaches him and inquires if he is prepared to undertake another extraction. The task at hand involves the retrieval of Mia’s sister and her offspring from a Georgian penitentiary, which is currently housing two rival factions, thereby complicating the mission. Despite the challenges, Tyler acquiesces to the request and assembles a team comprising of Nik Khan, her brother Yaz Khan, and other skilled operatives to travel to Georgia and execute the extraction. With the assistance of a prison guard, they successfully infiltrate the facility, but the subsequent extraction proves to be a formidable undertaking, requiring Tyler to engage in a fierce altercation with a multitude of inmates in the prison courtyard. Ultimately, Tyler emerges victorious, successfully extracting the three individuals. However, his actions have incurred the wrath of the Nagazi army, as Tyler’s actions resulted in the demise of Davit during his escape from the prison.

Tyler and his team transported Mia’s sister and her children to Dubai. However, Sandro, the son of Davit, expressed his desire to return to his father’s criminal organization and subsequently disclosed their location to his uncle. As a result, Zurab, Davit’s brother, launched an attack on the building where they were hiding. Despite the assault, Tyler and his team managed to evade capture. Zurab took Sandro with him as he departed. In the ensuing altercation between Tyler and the nagazis, Yaz Khan, the brother of Nik Khan, was fatally shot while attempting to flee in the helicopter provided by Davit’s gangster brother.

Tyler transported Mia’s sister and her daughter to the log cabin where he was residing, and Mia, his former spouse, subsequently joined them. The two had separated after Tyler departed from his family to undertake a crucial assignment while his gravely ill son was hospitalized. Mia still sought an explanation, but this time Tyler elucidated why he had left, acknowledging that he was unable to save his son. Mia forgave him and embraced him. In the meantime, Tyler received a call from Zurab, who intended to murder him for having killed his brother Davit. Accompanied by Sandro, Zurab requested that Tyler meet him at the airfield where his aircraft was stationed. Tyler departed alone, leaving Nik behind, who also sought retribution from Zurab for her brother’s demise. Tyler proceeded to the airfield, where he destroyed the plane and eliminated Zurab’s team members.

Zurab escorted Sandro to a nearby church, utilizing him as a human shield and outfitting him with an explosive vest. Upon Tyler’s arrival and the sight of Zurab’s remote, Tyler was compelled to relinquish his weapons. Zurab then commanded Sandro to execute Tyler with his own hands, under the threat of death. However, Sandro refused to comply, having gained an understanding of Zurab’s true nature and desiring to return safely to his mother. Nik Khan arrived at the church armed with a rifle, but upon Tyler’s request, she relinquished her weapon. Zurab held Sandro by the neck, but Sandro managed to seize the remote and flee. Nik fired at Zurab, who was protected by his bulletproof vest, and in turn, Zurab shot Nik in the abdomen. A physical altercation ensued between Tyler and Zurab, culminating in Tyler killing Zurab and obliterating his skull with a single shot. The authorities arrived and transported them to the hospital, where Nik was recovering while restrained in handcuffs.

Nik and Tyler have been incarcerated and subsequently, Mia pays a visit to Tyler in the correctional facility. Tyler expresses his gratitude towards Mia for taking care of his child during his absence and she informs him that his child aspires to be as courageous as him. Subsequently, Tyler is escorted to an undisclosed location where he encounters an individual attired in formal attire. The individual, who remains anonymous, discloses that he intends to secure the release of Tyler and his team (Nik Khan) from prison. Furthermore, the individual proposes that Tyler work for his employer, who has a task for him. Tyler consents to the proposition.
